From beginning her career as an ICU nurse at Boston Children’s Hospital to becoming a pioneer in health informatics, Linda has spent decades at the intersection of clinical care, technology, informatics, and artificial intelligence . Her work has contributed to the development and adoption of some of healthcare’s groundbreaking digital systems, including early clinical decision-support and AI solutions, the Department of Defense’s CHCS patient care system, and technology that evolved into Kaiser Permanente’s HealthConnect/Epic ecosystem. As Founder of Healthcare Technology Consulting , Linda has collaborated with organizations including the NIH, Google, IBM, the University of California, Genentech, the White House, community health centers, and numerous healthcare startups. Her impact extends deeply into education as well. At National University, Linda established and led one of the early MS Health Informatics programs , helping prepare a new generation of healthcare professionals to navigate an increasingly digital industry. In 2025, she received the prestigious Life Fellow (LFHIMSS) designation from HIMSS in recognition of her lifetime contributions to healthcare information and technology. Today, Linda continues to teach, advise, explore emerging AI opportunities, and challenge healthcare leaders to think beyond technology itself—and instead focus on what technology enables people to achieve. Here’s what we discussed: The evolution of health IT—from early clinical decision support to today’s generative AI What decades of digital transformation can teach healthcare about the current AI revolution How AI can augment clinicians and healthcare professionals rather than simply automate their work Preparing the next generation of healthcare leaders for an AI-enabled future Why responsible innovation must balance technology with trust, judgment, and human connection How healthcare organizations can move from asking “What can AI do?” to “What can we now do because of AI?” Why Linda’s philosophy remains more relevant than ever: “Add a double dose of humanity for each dose of technology.” Exclusively, only on Healthcare Journeys!
