Lucas and Luna demystify Health Savings Accounts in this focused episode of Fexingo Business. They walk through the mechanics of triple tax advantage — pre-tax contributions, tax-free growth, and tax-free withdrawals for qualified medical expenses — using specific IRS limits for 2025 ($4,300 individual, $8,550 family) and real-world examples like funding a $3,000 dental implant or a $12,000 elective surgery. Lucas explains eligibility rules (high-deductible health plans with minimum deductibles of $1,600 individual / $3,200 family) and Luna asks the hard questions about penalties for non-medical withdrawals before age 65, the coordination with Medicare, and the state tax treatment in California and New Jersey. They compare HSAs to FSAs and Roth IRAs, cite data from the Employee Benefit Research Institute on average HSA balances ($4,700 in 2024), and discuss strategies like investing HSA funds in index funds rather than leaving them in cash. The conversation is grounded in the Tax Cuts

How HSAs Cover Dental Implants and Orthodontics
Sep 13, 202611 minS4
Most people assume their Health Savings Account is strictly for doctor visits and prescriptions, but the IRS allows a much wider range of dental care that goes far beyond basic cleanings. In this episode, we break down the specific rules around orthodontia for adults and the eligibility of dental implants as qualified medical expenses. We look at the cost differential between paying out-of-pocket versus using pre-tax HSA funds, and how to properly document these procedures so you never face an audit trail issue. If you are facing major dental work this quarter, understanding the nuance between cosmetic and corrective treatment is critical for your tax strategy. #HealthSavingsAccount #DentalImplants #Orthodontics #TaxAdvantagedAccounts #PersonalFinance #IRSRegulations #MedicalExpenses #WealthBuilding #FinancialPlanning #DentalCare #AdultOrthodontics #PreTaxBenefits #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #LucasAndLuna #MoneyManagement #RetirementStrategy #HiddenBenefits Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
HSAs and the Long Game of Medical Debt Forgiveness
Sep 12, 20269 minS4
We tackle a specific, often overlooked strategy for managing chronic health costs: the long-term reimbursement loophole. Most people think HSAs are only for immediate bills, but the IRS allows you to pay out-of-pocket now and reimburse yourself years later from that same HSA. This episode explores how keeping receipts for eligible expenses like dental work or vision care can turn your HSA into a powerful tax-advantaged savings vehicle for future medical needs. We break down the mechanics of this strategy, why it works better than paying upfront when you have an HSA, and how to organize your records so you never miss a deduction. If you have a high-deductible health plan, understanding this delayed reimbursement model could change how you view your annual healthcare budget. #HSA #HealthSavingsAccount #TaxAdvantage #MedicalDebt #PersonalFinance #Investing #WealthBuilding #RetirementPlanning #IRSRules #HighDeductiblePlan #FinancialLiteracy #MoneyManagement #HealthcareCosts #CompoundGrowth #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #FinanceShow #SmartMoney Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
HSAs and the Long Game of Medical Debt Forgiveness
Sep 11, 202612 minS4
Most people treat their Health Savings Account as a daily spending wallet, but the real leverage lies in the long tail of medical debt. In this episode, we explore the often-overlooked strategy of keeping receipts for decades. Lucas and Luna break down how the IRS allows you to reimburse yourself for qualified expenses incurred at any point in time, provided you were covered by a high-deductible plan when the expense happened. We look at the specific case of dental work done ten years ago, or a maternity bill from your twenties, and how holding onto those records can effectively erase past costs while letting the invested balance compound tax-free. This isn't about immediate cash flow; it is about strategic liquidity management over a lifetime. #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #HealthSavingsAccount #PersonalFinance #TaxStrategy #MedicalDebt #HighDeductiblePlan #RetirementPlanning #WealthBuilding #IRSRules #LongTermCare #FinancialLiteracy #InvestingTips #CashFlowManagement #TaxAdvantagedAccounts #HealthcareCosts #SmartMoneyMoves #LucasAndLuna Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
The HSA Paperclip Strategy for Hidden Medical Bills
Sep 10, 202611 minS4
Most people treat Health Savings Accounts as a daily spending wallet, but the real wealth builder is the paperclip strategy. In this episode, Lucas and Luna break down how to keep every medical receipt from the last decade, pay out-of-pocket today, and let your HSA grow tax-free until you need it. We look at a specific case of a family that saved fifteen thousand dollars by never throwing away a doctor's bill, and discuss the legal nuance of reimbursing yourself years later. If you have a high-deductible plan, this is the single most underutilized feature in your benefits package. #HealthSavingsAccounts #PersonalFinance #MedicalExpenses #TaxAdvantage #WealthBuilding #HighDeductiblePlans #FinancialLiteracy #InvestmentStrategy #RetirementPlanning #MoneyManagement #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #Economics #CareerAdvice #SmartMoney #FinancialFreedom #BudgetingTips #LucasAndLuna Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
