Forgiving Someone You Can No Longer Trust
How should Christians respond when wrongdoing goes unpunished and justice seems far away? In “Why it's not Our Job to Bring Justice to the World,” Jeffrey Johnson explores Revelation 5:1–4 and the search for someone worthy to open the sealed scroll. Our longing for righteousness is real, but personal vengeance is a burden we lack the authority and ability to carry. Christ alone is worthy, and we can trust him to judge rightly. With practical application for painful relationships, Johnson examines how bitterness can take root in our hurt and why forgiveness does not require trusting an untrustworthy person. The grace we receive in Jesus gives us strength to love our enemies, seek restoration, and forgive those who wrong us. Because Christ will bring justice, we can entrust our hurts to him.
