Ep 177: When Love Has Conditions: Love vs. Expectation.
When Love Has Conditions ❤️ What happens when someone you love becomes different from who you expected them to be? Do you try to change them, or do you allow their truth to change you? Sometimes, the person challenging the family system isn't creating the problem. Their authenticity may simply be revealing something that was already there. Do we ask them to fit back into the family system? Or do we allow their truth to challenge us and perhaps even change us? Maybe the question isn't whether someone we love has changed but whether our expectations were ever allowing us to see them for who they truly are. Breaking generational patterns requires courage. It asks us to look at what we've inherited, what we've been taught, and what we've unconsciously carried forward. And sometimes, the greatest act of love isn't asking someone to change so they can belong. It's choosing to see them, hear them, and respect their truth. Because love shouldn't require someone to abandon who they are in order to remain part of our lives. Sometimes, choosing love means letting go of expectation and allowing the people we love to show us who they really are. On this episode of Get a G.R.I.P. with Coach Elix, join me, Coach Elix, and my husband, Steven the Medium, as we explore what happens when love collides with expectation and what it takes to choose love over the need to control someone else's truth. Because sometimes, breaking a generational pattern begins with one person having the courage to say: "This is who I am."
