Local Selection 318: Lana Hayes B2B Sleepyhead

  Sep 30, 20261 hour

Local Selection 318 sees Lana Hayes and Sleepyhead join forces, bringing their bass-heavy, freaky sounds to the mix with the same energy and chemistry they bring to the dance floor. Friends by chance, DJs by choice. Lana Hayes and Sleepyhead go together like pint bottles in the sun, Lucozades on rough mornings and beers amongst friends. Having clocked countless hours of field research in the wild, from club dancefloors to festival fields, the pair have developed the kind of chemistry that can only come from shared experience, questionable decisions and a genuine love for the dance. When Lana and Sleepyhead come together behind the decks, that friendship becomes impossible to ignore. There’s an undeniable spark between them, an explosive back-and-forth that sends bass-heavy, booty-shaking shockwaves through the floor, seismic activity that would surely register somewhere on the Richter scale. Their selections occupy the freakier end of the dance music spectrum, built for sweaty rooms, loose limbs and those moments when the night starts to take on a life of its own. This is music with attitude, humour and plenty of low-end pressure. They preach to the masses the Gummer Gospel: freaky dance music for freaky dancers, delivered with the energy of two mates who are clearly having as much fun behind the decks as everyone else is in front of them. Four Four Premiere: Cartin - Saturday

  Sep 25, 20265 min

Cartin has been carving out his own space within Ireland’s electronic underground, bringing together guitar-led live performance, emotive songwriting and club-focused production. At its heart, ‘Saturday’ is a celebration of friendship. Built around shimmering Chicago house keys, elastic grooves, pop sensibilities and manipulated vocal fragments, the track radiates an infectious optimism. Beneath its euphoric surface is a tribute to the friendships that carry us through life’s highs and lows. Designed with live performance in mind, ‘Saturday’ thrives in those moments where strangers become friends and entire rooms move as one. Blending live performance with electronic production, Cartin delivers a distinctly Irish take on modern dance music that feels organic, emotional and impossible to stand still to. Local Selection 317: Mijo Sanchez

  Sep 23, 20261h 4m

Mijo Sanchez takes the Local Selection series into darker territory, delivering a tightly wound journey through murky atmospheres and coiling tension. With close to a decade behind the decks, Sanchez has become one of Galway’s driving forces and mainstays within the city’s club culture, building a reputation through residencies, club appearances and a commitment to keeping the techno candle burning through the night. His sets move between Acid Techno, Electro, 00s-adjacent Tribal Techno and Trance, a concoction shaped through years spent on the dancefloor. As the founder of Rave Culture Galway, Sanchez has also played an active role in developing the city’s underground community, creating a platform for local DJs and artists while bringing a wider range of electronic sounds to the region. Behind the decks, his approach remains open, with little interest in being pigeonholed by a single sound or aesthetic. He moves fluidly between genres, always maintaining an overwhelming sense of forward motion. Over the years, he has appeared at venues including Electric, Club Cuba, The Cellar Underground and The Loft, alongside a range of independent club nights and events. His contribution to the Local Selection series leans into dark, twisted and hypnotic techno - deep, dynamic and murky. Sanchez flexes his command of the decks through a sense of utter control, an essential quality when pushing this style to its maximum intensity. The tracks are clean yet dark, creating a tunnelling sensation that draws you through meandering atmospheres and coiling textures. Sanchez holds these dynamics tightly, manipulating them with precision and keeping the tension perpetually on a knife’s edge without ever allowing it to spill over. The result is a tightly controlled journey that remains dizzying the full way through.
