Burning the Ships
Most of us want Jesus and a backup plan. We follow Him on Sunday morning, then live by our own rules the other six days and hope it all balances out. Legend says Hernán Cortés burned his ships in 1519 so nobody could turn back. A farmer named Elisha did something like it with his oxen, and Jesus asked ordinary people for the same kind of discipleship. It sounds hard because it is hard. But there's a reason Jesus asks for everything, and it's better than you think. What He's holding out is bigger than anything you'd be giving up. Ready to go deeper in your faith?
