Living Sacrifice | Sustained
Have you been hurt by someone and wondered how to respond? How do you forgive when the pain is still real? Is it possible to pursue peace without putting yourself back in harm’s way? Jesus shows us a way through conflict that is grounded in grace, forgiveness, and trust in God. Because Jesus laid down his life for us, we can release revenge, love our enemies, and trust God with justice. The gospel gives us a foundation that holds when relationships become painful and complicated. Following Jesus can mean blessing those who hurt you, stepping toward people who grieve, choosing humility, and overcoming evil with good. It can also mean recognizing the limits of your responsibility and stepping away from ongoing harm. You can forgive because Christ has forgiven you, even when another person has not changed. The Holy Spirit gives you strength to live the Jesus way, bringing peace and goodness into a world shaped by anger and retaliation. Scripture: Romans 12:14 to 21 “Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.” Romans 12:14 “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:21 Belong at First Pres by taking the first step: join us for worship on Sundays in person. https://firstprescos.org/belong
