Unchained Melody - Standing on our own two feet | Andy Bullock | 6th September 2026
The Good news of Jesus Christ is endless. While we all know the headline - that he died for us as on the cross as a sacrifice for our salvation into eternal life, made possible by his death, burial and resurrection - the list of things that he has unchained us from is endless. It's an 'unchained melody', as we said on Sunday. We get to listen to and watch hit after hit in our 'Unchained Melody', FC Southsea. Some of the 'hits' and lyrics in our unchained melody mean we live in freedom and are ready to chain ourselves in this life only as a servant of the Lord. Unchained from our sins (forever) - 1 Peter 2:24 NLT, 1 John 1:9 NLT Unchained from punishment for our sin - Romans 3:23-24 NLT, Romans 6:23 NLT Unchained from sickness and disease - Isaiah 53:5 NLT Unchained from being lost - 2 Corinthians 5:18a NLT, Luke 15:24 NLT Unchained from darkness - Colossians 1:13 NLT Unchained from our old life - 2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT Unchained from anxiety, fear and inferiority - Philippians 4:6 NLT, Philippians 4:7 NLT, 2 Timothy 1:7 NLT, Luke 10:19 NLT Unchained from our works and burdens - Zechariah 4:6 NLT, Acts of the Apostles 1:8 NLT, Matthew 11:28 NLT Unchained from self-making - Jeremiah 1:5 NLT, Psalms 139:14 NLT, Ephesians 2:10 NLT, Jeremiah 29:11 NLT, Ephesians 3:20 NLT Unchained from suffering and death - John 3:16 NLT, 1 Corinthians 15:42-44 NLT, Revelation 21:2-4 NLT Bonus Track - Unchained from saving ourselves - John 15:12-13 NLT, John 15:12-13 The Message As we say, hit after hit after hit. For FC Southsea in this new season we are entering into, as we start to stand on our own two feet, we suggest our response should be to be: 1. Unabetted - able to live on this truth more than depending on support and encouragement of others 2. Unvicarious - living the lives God has designed uniquely for us rather than living through others or not really living at all 3. Unapologetic - we have been forgiven. We do not need to keep apologising for who we are or where we fall short. What does your unchained melody sound like today?
