When Anxiety Wasn't the Whole Story: Panic Attacks, ADHD, and the Journey Back to Herself
Welcome to Season 2! This week on Faith, Kids & Controlled Chaos, my daughter Hannah joins me for an honest conversation about growing up with anxiety and panic attacks, walking through depression as a teenager, and eventually discovering at age 20 that ADHD had been part of the picture all along. We talk about what anxiety actually felt like for her, the ADHD signs we missed, masking and feeling different, and the relief that came when she finally began to understand how her brain worked. Hannah also shares what helped her move toward healing—including family, friends, therapy, medication when she needed it, and most importantly, making her relationship with God the center of her life. And because hindsight can sometimes be pretty funny, we're also looking back at a few childhood moments that probably should have had giant "HELLO, ADHD!" signs attached to them. Whether you're parenting a child who is struggling, wondering if ADHD could be hiding underneath anxiety or depression, or recognizing pieces of your own story in Hannah's, we hope this conversation reminds you that there is hope, there is help, and you don't have to walk through the hard seasons alone.
