Episode #58
Millionaire by 30: The Deadline That’s Making You Feel Behind
Sep 8, 202652 min
ocial media has convinced a generation of young men that if they are not rich by 25 or a millionaire by 30 they are already behind. Every day you see streamers with supercars, crypto traders claiming 100x returns, sports bettors posting winning slips and influencers selling the idea that financial freedom is only one play away. What you rarely see are the years of work, losses, failed investments and skill building that came before the success. In this episode of Failures Podcast, Rich and Justin unpack the invisible millionaire deadline and the pressure to get rich young. Rich shares the conversation that started the episode after his 14-year-old son said he planned to own a Lamborghini by 18. They break down why social media creates unrealistic financial expectations, how get rich quick culture preys on people who feel stuck, and why sports betting, crypto speculation, meme stocks and online money schemes can make slow wealth building feel pointless. Rich also opens up about losing $15,000 trading Tesla options and more than $25,000 on a crypto position, while Justin challenges the idea that telling a broke young man to simply invest for the long term is enough. They discuss how to build wealth when you are starting with very little, why increasing your skills and earning power matters more than chasing a lucky trade, the difference between investing and gambling, building a valuable network, keeping emergency savings and creating financial independence that can actually last. The goal is not to kill your ambition. Dream as big as you want. Just stop believing you failed because you did not become a millionaire by an arbitrary age. Build skills. Build income. Build ownership. Build something that can last for 10 years instead of something that might work for 10 weeks. Failures Podcast 2026 We're not gods. We're not gurus. AI girlfriends are becoming an alternative to dating for men who are tired of rejection, ghosting, loneliness, and the pressure of modern dating. But what happens when your perfect AI companion never says no, never leaves you on read, and never forces you to risk being rejected? In this episode of Failures Podcast, Rich and Justin unpack why some men are turning to AI girlfriends and AI companions for love, intimacy, validation, and connection instead of pursuing real relationships. They explore the male loneliness crisis, fear of rejection, dating apps, social anxiety, artificial intimacy, and the illusion of control that comes with building a digital partner around exactly what you want. Justin also shares a brutally honest story from his pandemic dating years that reveals how easily loneliness can turn affection into a product. The deeper question isn't whether AI girlfriends are good or bad. It's what you're trying to escape when artificial companionship starts feeling safer than real dating. Are AI relationships helping lonely men cope, or are they making it easier to avoid the rejection, discomfort, and vulnerability required to build real human relationships? Rich and Justin also break down how to get more comfortable with rejection, why real connection requires friction, and why sometimes you have to give luck a chance. If dating feels exhausting, rejection has made you want to give up, or you've wondered why more men are choosing AI companions over real relationships, this episode is for you. They explore relationship isolation, losing friends after getting a girlfriend, emotional dependence and what happens when your girlfriend becomes your only source of friendship, validation and social connection. First-Generation Tax: Why You Feel Guilty Around Your Immigrant Parents
Aug 11, 20261h 1m
Being a first-generation American or the child of immigrant parents can come with a hidden pressure nobody prepares you for. As you become more successful, you may feel responsible for your parents financially, guilty for having opportunities they never had and trapped between building your own life and being the good son your family expects you to be. In this episode, Rich and Justin unpack the first-generation tax and the guilt, family expectations and financial pressure that can come with being the successful son of immigrant parents. They discuss growing up as the family translator and problem solver, trying to explain college and modern careers to immigrant parents and eventually becoming the person everyone calls when something goes wrong. Rich shares how he secretly used his mother's tax documents to complete his FAFSA application because she did not understand the process. Justin explains how close he came to leaving college because his family expected him to work and contribute rent. They also explore: • First-generation guilt and survivor's guilt • Financial pressure from immigrant parents • Becoming your family's emergency fund • The "good son contract" • Setting boundaries with parents • Family expectations and cultural pressure • Choosing your future without abandoning your family • Why success can sometimes feel like betrayal • Why changing does not make you disloyal You can love your parents and appreciate everything they sacrificed without making yourself responsible for solving every problem in their lives. The best way to honor your family's sacrifice is not to repeat their suffering. Failures Podcast 2026 We're not gods. We're not gurus.
