END OF THE AGE PODCAST | EPISODE 15: LAWLESSNESS ABOUNDS — Part 1 | When the Rule of Law Breaks Down
What happens to a nation when respect for law, authority, truth, and established institutions begins to erode? In Part 1 of our new series, Lawlessness Abounds, we examine the growing tension between law and lawlessness—not only from a political and cultural perspective, but ultimately through the lens of Scripture.We begin by laying an important foundation: What does the law actually say? We distinguish between lawful immigration, refugees, asylum seekers, illegal entry, and unlawful presence, and look at the dramatic changes in immigration patterns in both the United States and the United Kingdom. From there, we examine some of the competing political and economic ideas shaping the modern West—including capitalism, socialism, communism, Marxism, and Islamic economic principles—and consider how ideologies, institutions, immigration, and demographic change can influence a society over time. We also take a closer look at the growing Muslim demographic, cultural, religious, and civic presence in American cities, with particular attention to Michigan and the Dearborn/Hamtramck area, separating documented developments from assumptions and asking what these changes actually mean for American law, constitutional government, religious liberty, and the future of the country. But this series is about something larger than any one political party, religion, immigration policy, or community. Jesus warned of a time when “lawlessness is increased” and the love of many would grow cold (Matthew 24:12). Paul likewise spoke of the coming “mystery of lawlessness” and the ultimate appearance of the man of lawlessness (2 Thessalonians 2). Are we witnessing conditions that help us better understand those biblical warnings? Throughout the Lawlessness Abounds series, we’ll examine immigration, crime, civil disorder, political movements, challenges to governmental authority, competing ideologies, religious influence, and the breakdown of social and moral restraints—while carefully distinguishing between what is illegal, constitutionally protected, politically controversial, and biblically lawless. Our goal is not fear or sensationalism. It is to examine the evidence, understand the law, test claims carefully, and then ask the question that matters most: What does Scripture tell followers of Jesus to recognize—and how should we respond—as lawlessness increases?
