#330 - Ben Lee - Backstage with a Music Icon & How He Rocked the Industry
Ben Lee is an ARIA Award-winning singer, songwriter and musician, who has won four ARIA Awards and an APRA Song of the Year for his global hit ‘Catch My Disease'. For over 3 decades he has been an icon of Australian music. Ben is about to share insight like never before inside his incredible career and moments. From being discovered as a teenager, to making it on the biggest stage, Ben has helped shape the industry for so many. We chat about his influence on Good Charlotte and his tight friendship with the Madden brothers, the success of "Awake Is the New Sleep", his views on the industry and the joy he has for songwriting. Ben walks us through how he accidentally pissed off a lot of people in the industry during his interviews that led to some very public and direct comments by Bernard Fanning. Not to mention multiple diss tracks written about him...and of course how he smoothed it over and the real intent behind it. Ben openly shares his experiences with cults, the interest he has in them and some of the other unorthodox methods he has used to unlock deeper experiences. We also get a proper look inside royalties and the business of the industry. This one has it all! Sit back and enjoy the immensely talented, Ben Lee!
