Episode 39: Christina Morris - Labor Day Bonus Episode
Sarah leads this episode about the disappearance of 23-year-old Christina Morris — a Texas woman whose family, friends, and an army of volunteers refused to give up searching for her. In the early morning hours of August 30, 2014, Christina left a gathering with former high school classmate Enrique Arochi. Surveillance footage captured the two walking together into a parking garage at The Shops at Legacy in Plano, Texas. Arochi's car left the garage minutes later. Christina was never seen alive again. As investigators began unraveling Arochi's story, the evidence started pointing in a very different direction. Christina's DNA was discovered inside the trunk of his Camaro, cellphone evidence tracked their movements after leaving the garage, and surveillance footage contradicted key details Arochi had initially given investigators. But there was one enormous problem: Christina was still missing. In 2016, prosecutors took the unusual step of putting Arochi on trial without knowing where Christina was or exactly what had happened to her. He was convicted of aggravated kidnapping and sentenced to life in prison. For more than three years, Christina's loved ones and dedicated volunteers known as Team Christina continued searching, living by the motto "Giving up is not an option." Then, in March 2018, workers clearing land in Anna, Texas made a heartbreaking discovery. Christina's remains had finally been found. Join us as we break down Christina's disappearance, the evidence that led investigators to Enrique Arochi, the remarkable case prosecutors built without a body, the years-long effort to bring Christina home, and the family and community who refused to stop searching for her.
