Daily Devotion with Pastor Balla for August 21, 2026
In this Daily Devotion for August 21, 2026, Pastor David Balla walks through Psalm 78:19-21, a sarcastic question asked by people who had just watched water pour from solid rock: can God spread a table in the wilderness? It was not honest doubt but contempt, demanding proof while standing in the middle of proof already given, and it kindled God's own anger. This devotion is honest about how seriously God takes unbelief that treats His grace as worthless. But it also points to where the question finds its true answer. God does spread a table in the wilderness of this life, in Jesus Christ, who gives us far more than bread or meat. There we find true grace, forgiveness, and salvation, secured through His finished work rather than demanded on our own terms. Through His redemption we are welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven, and in the Lord's Supper He literally spreads a table for us, giving His true body and blood for the forgiveness of sins. You have been given far more than water from a rock. Do not meet that grace with demands for more. Meet it with trust, resting in what has already been given.
