Episode 64: “Music: The Language of the Heart” with Patty Stephens - Music by Todd Lowry
In the latest episode of The Celebrate Happiness Roadshow podcast , we are speaking with vocalist, music director, teacher, and producer, Patty Stephens from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Patty's mother says that Patty, who is the middle child of eleven siblings, has been singing since she was born. The older siblings and her mother were her teachers, and soon Patty joined in the teaching. This was where her passion for community singing with people of all ages comes from. Patty's love of singing crosses many genres with a special interest in Jazz. She is a member of "The Brazil Project, a band with two award-winning recordings to their name. In addition to performing at numerous Jazz and Blues Festivals across the United States, she is also a faculty member at The New Mexico Jazz Workshop, where she has taught Jazz singing for over twenty years, and has been featured in their Women's Voices concerts, which she curated for six years. Patty has performed for numerous sold-out concerts at The Outpost Performance Space as well as many clubs throughout New Mexico. Currently, she is producing albums for a local, highly talented composer and teaching from her private studio. Patty is also Music Director at Bosque Center for Spiritual Living where she has fulfilled her vision of getting people to sing together because "Singing together is good for us humans."
