CASCADE OF HISTORY is the only LIVE radio show presenting news and stories about people doing cool things with and for history in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia. We talk about people, artifacts, books, maps, photos, places, landmarks, public lands, state and national parks, trails, highways, and the historic events that can bring us all together. The show is broadcast LIVE most Sunday nights at 8pm Pacific Time on SPACE 101.1 FM (and streaming via http://www.space101fm.org ) from studios located on the shores of Lake Washington in historic Magnuson Park in Seattle, former site of Sand Point Naval Air Station (though sometimes CASCADE OF HISTORY originates from remote locations around the region). The podcast feed consists of the weekly broadcast, plus frequent bonus episodes with timely and topical interviews, vintage local audio or other Pacific Northwest history-related content - and sometimes even BREAKING NEWS. Producer and host Feliks Banel is a corporate historian; Emmy-winning and Edward R. Murrow Award-winning broadcaster; and former deputy director of Seattle's Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI). BONUS EPISODE: "This NOT Just In" Archival Revival Part Three
Sep 19, 202618 min
On this BONUS EPISODE of CASCADE OF HISTORY, Feliks Banel digs for a third time into the “This NOT Just In” archives for three installments from the occasional history series that aired from 2010 to 2016 on KUOW Public Radio 94.9 FM in Seattle. The premise of “This NOT Just In” was to use archival audio to shed light on forgotten or not fully understood stories from Pacific Northwest history. In this third "This NOT Just In" Archival Revival, we remember the devastating Columbus Day Storm of October 1962; the infamous D.B. Cooper skyjacking of November 1971; and the first time the long-running JP Patches Show on KIRO TV in Seattle was cancelled in December 1978. This material was originally produced by Feliks Banel with editing and other assistance from KUOW’s Jim Gates. “This NOT Just In” was initially awarded a Program Venture Fund grant from KUOW in 2009 which funded production of the first three episodes; KUOW ultimately green-lighted more than 30 additional episodes during the run of the series. The episodes remained online for many years, but most are no longer accessible via the KUOW website – so it seemed like a good time to share them once again as a public service. BONUS ENCORE EPISODE: "The Woolly Dog: A Lost Breed of the Salish Sea" at the Museum of Anthropology
Sep 12, 202633 min
Feliks Banel's guests on this BONUS ENCORE EPISODE of CASCADE OF HISTORY - presented to herald the new display "The Woolly Dog: A Lost Breed of the Salish Sea" at the Museum of Anthropology in Vancouver, BC - are Liz Hammond-Kaarremaa, Chief Janice George, and Dr. Susan Pavel, co-authors of “The Teachings of Mutton: A Coast Salish Woolly Dog.” The book was released in May 2025 by Harbour Publishing in British Columbia, and this conversation was recorded in October 2025. “Mutton” is the name of a dog from the 19th century whose pelt was tucked away in a drawer at the Smithsonian Institution for 150 years until it was re-discovered by amateur archivist Candace Wellman. “The Teachings of Mutton: A Coast Salish Woolly Dog” tells Mutton’s story and what Mutton can teach us about Coast Salish Woolly Dogs and their significance. BONUS ENCORE EPISODE: History of Vote By Mail in Washington State with Sec of State Sam Reed
Sep 9, 202633 min
On this BONUS ENCORE EPISODE of CASCADE OF HISTORY, we listen back to Feliks Banel’s September 2025 interview with three-term Republican former Washington Secretary of State Sam Reed about the origins and history of voting by mail in Washington state. Secretary Reed was in office from 2001 to 2013, and previously served as the elected auditor of Thurston County. In this earlier role, he was one of the first public officials to support efforts to adopt voting by mail in the Evergreen State back in the early 1980s. Washington became the second all-vote-by-mail state in 2011; Oregon was first a decade earlier. With more than a year of rhetoric from the Trump Administration targeting the popular and proven practice of voting by mail - or to otherwise sow chaos in advance of the 2026 midterm elections - it was a good time to hear from former Secretary Reed to learn the history and context for the practice in the state of Washington, and to also look ahead to what might happen should the federal effort intensify. BONUS EPISODE: Marking 25 Years Since 9/11 with Vintage Seattle Radio Recordings
Sep 6, 202652 min
On this BONUS EPISODE of CASCADE OF HISTORY, Feliks Banel marks the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the United States by sharing vintage audio from KIRO Radio from the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001. In this 45-minute recording (one side of an analog tape, made by Feliks at home that morning 25 years ago), we hear Newsradio 710 KIRO deep in its "peak news & talk" years - when a big newsroom was in operation around the clock to gather and report the facts, and wise and eloquent talk show hosts (including Dave Ross) calmly analyzed and interpreted what was going on . . . in real-time. Some of the beloved local voices heard on this tape include Dave Ross, Gregg Hersholt, Kirsten Kendrick, Heather Bosch, Tim Haeck, Tony Minor, Jon Repp, Brian Calvert, Ursula Reutin and the late Jane Shannon. We also hear national updates from the radio division of CBS News - which, as of earlier this year, is long-gone. This recording was made beginning around 10:45am Pacific Time, or about five hours after the attacks; it's not breaking news, but it's still a chilling audio time capsule from one of the darkest days in American history. Through it all, the local voices we hear are steady, and these radio professionals did their part to help the community process the shock and disbelief. Every question we get asked before someone starts their trial.
If you have a concern about deliverability, AI quality, data privacy, or whether this will actually work for your specific situation, it's probably answered below.
What is the difference between Founder Solo and Founder Pro?
Founder Solo gives you 50 AI pitches per month using the credit model (Standard pitches cost 1 credit, Enriched pitches cost 2). Founder Pro raises that to 200 credits per month and adds full Booking Probability access, unlimited Magic Match, Apollo enrichment credits, and data export capabilities. Both plans use the same credit system, so you can stretch your monthly budget further by using Standard-mode drafting.
How do agency tiers work?
Agency tiers have no base fee. You pay per managed client and per talent profile. Agency Standard is $199 per client per month; Agency Pro is $399 per client per month. Both add $39 per talent profile per month. Your own team's user seats are always free.
What is a talent profile?
A talent profile represents one person (founder, executive, or spokesperson) you are booking onto podcasts. It includes their bio, topics, headshots, and outreach history. Team plans include 5 profiles; agency plans are pay-as-you-go.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes, at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades apply at the end of the current billing period. Contact support if you need help migrating between plan families.
Do you offer a free trial?
Every paid plan includes a 15-day free trial. Your card is saved at signup but you will not be charged until day 16. Cancel any time from your dashboard.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep access until the end of your current billing period. No charges after that. Your data is retained for 30 days in case you reactivate.
Is the 20% annual discount automatic?
Yes. Select Annual on the pricing toggle and the discounted price is applied automatically at checkout. The annual price shown is the full year cost.
What if I have more than 50 profiles or 20 clients?
That is our Enterprise tier. Contact our sales team and we will build a custom plan with volume pricing, a dedicated account manager, and SLA guarantees.
