According to 2024 statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau, of the nearly 1,400,000 people living in San Diego, California, 5.6% are Black. The visual disparity of Black people and spaces often leads many Black people to ask, “Where are the Black people?” This podcast explores this question by seeking to understand the experiences of Black people living in San Diego and how Black people in San Diego create place, build and find community. With the goal of capturing the diversity of Black voices and experiences, each episode features a different host and a different interviewee.Welcome to Black San Diego .
