The conversation explores what makes someone a “real Afghan,” whether being Afghan is connected to Islam and where Afghan Sikhs, Jews and other religious minorities fit within our national identity. We also talk about the extreme voices dominating Afghan social media and why some creators reduce the entire Afghan experience to surface level talking points about religion, oppression and culture. We then challenge the diaspora to move beyond symbolic gestures and online outrage. What can Afghans abroad actually contribute? We discuss women’s education, online learning, technology, remote work, infrastructure, economic opportunities and the need for practical solutions that help ordinary Afghans build better lives.
