  Dr Bradley Thayer - Communism's 100 Years War Against America

  Dr. Bradley Thayer, American Freedom Alliance Fellow, joined us in Washington, DC, for a celebration of his new book, America’s 100 Years’ War: How to Win Against Communism. In his address, introduced by AFA President Dr. Karen Siegemund, Dr Thayer argues that the United States has been locked for a century in a contest between the spirit of 1776—Madison and the Founders—and the spirit of 1917—Lenin and the Bolshevik Revolution. He traces how Lenin invented totalitarianism, supplied the instruction manual in Left-Wing Communism: An Infantile Disorder, and launched the United Front strategy of boring from within: using liberal institutions against themselves. That playbook, carried forward by the Comintern and later by private networks, shaped the American Communist Party, the Chinese Communist Party, and successive efforts to penetrate unions, education, media, museums, and the Democratic Party (as Earl Browder urged by 1929). Front organizations such as the DSA continue the same leftward pull. Dr Thayer also tallies the blood price Americans paid long before and during the Cold War—linked, he contends, to Lenin’s 1918 separate peace, Stalin’s wartime choices, Korea, and Indochina—and contrasts that record with what he calls the American trinity: an American spirit, political liberalism grounded in the individual and God-given rights, and Western civilization.   At our 'America’s 250th Birthday' celebration, longtime friend of the Reagan Library, numerous veterans’ organizations, and AFA, Bob Donovan, honored our military by delivering Jimmy Weldon’s stirring monologue “I Am the Flag.” The piece traces Old Glory’s journey through American history—from Lexington and Concord and Molly Pitcher to Iwo Jima and the Four Chaplains—before Bob led the audience in a heartfelt Pledge of Allegiance. Among those present were more than a dozen military veterans, including two who had served in World War II, two in Iraq and Afghanistan, and veterans of Vietnam and Korea. The Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps were all represented, their presence in dress and mess uniforms lending a special gravitas to the evening.
