Senator Lambie, who's also a veteran, says Senator Hanson should delete the content and apologise to Mr Hastie. The head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri says the average person who turns off their algorithm will have a much worse "user experience" and he does not think the platform is addictive. The comments come two days after the Albanese government announced a proposal to force platforms to give Australians the choice to opt-out of their algorithm. Chronological feeds are already available to Instagram users in Australia but Mr Mosseri says user awareness is low, and there is "room to improve discoverability". US President Donald Trump is promising to pay thousands of dollars to every adult American if his Republican party wins both houses of Congress in November's mid-term elections. Mr Trump was addressing the Republicans party's first ever midterm convention, seeking to rally support ahead of the crucial polls. It's unclear where the money would come from, and if such a payment would be legal. Mr Trump says the money would have to be spent in the US.
