Zoltan Istvan: podcast appearances and interviews

Zoltan Istvan Gyurko, born on March 30, 1973, is an American transhumanist, author, and international speaker. He has worked as a journalist for National Geographic and is known for his involvement in transhumanist politics. Istvan authored The Transhumanist Wager, a philosophical science fiction novel that explores themes central to transhumanism. He has run for public office multiple times in the United States to promote transhumanist ideas and raise awareness of related political issues. In the 2016 presidential election, he sought the nomination of the US Transhumanist Party but did not appear on any state ballots. In 2017, he ran for Governor of California as a Libertarian candidate for the 2018 election. He later declared his candidacy for the Republican nomination in the 2020 presidential race against President Donald Trump. In April 2025, Istvan announced his intention to run for Governor of California again, this time as a Democrat in the 2026 state election.
