Dame Zandra Lindsey Rhodes, born on 19 September 1940, is an English fashion and textile designer renowned for her contributions to the industry. Her early education in fashion provided the foundation for her career in textile printing. Over her more than 50-year career, she has designed garments for prominent individuals including Diana, Princess of Wales, and various celebrities such as Freddie Mercury and Marc Bolan. Rhodes's work extends beyond fashion to textiles for interiors, with her prints featuring on furniture and homewares. In 2003, she established the Fashion and Textile Museum in London. Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards recognizing her influence and achievements, including the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in the Performing Arts – Costume Design in 1979, the Designer of The Year award in 1972, and the Walpole British Luxury Legend Award in 2019. Her designs have been celebrated in popular culture, with a Rhodes dress featured on a UK postage stamp issued by Royal Mail in 2012 to commemorate Great British Fashion.
