Zainab Salbi: podcast appearances and interviews

Zainab Salbi is an Iraqi American women's rights activist, writer, television show host, and podcaster born in 1969. She is the co-founder of Daughters for Earth, a fund and movement of Daughters rising worldwide with climate solutions aimed at protecting and restoring Mother Earth. She is also a co-founder of Women for Women International, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting women affected by sexual violence and conflict. Salbi has hosted television programs such as Through Her Eyes and #MeToo, Now What? which address issues affecting women. Since 2022, she has been the host of the Redefined podcast. Her early life was marked by her upbringing in Baghdad, where her father was Saddam Hussein's personal pilot. Her family arranged her marriage and emigration to the United States to remove her from Hussein's influence. After an abusive marriage in the U.S., she divorced her husband and began her humanitarian work. Salbi is the author of the memoir Between Two Worlds: Escape from Tyranny: Growing Up in the Shadow of Saddam, which recounts her childhood experiences. She also authored The Other Side of War: Women’s Stories of Survival & Hope, documenting stories of women survivors of war. In September 2023, Salbi received the Time100 Impact Award in recognition of her contributions.
