Zachary James, born on December 7, 1981, is an American actor and singer recognized for his diverse performances across stage, television, and recording. He has originated notable roles such as Lurch in the Broadway production of The Addams Family, Abraham Lincoln in Philip Glass's opera The Perfect American, and Amenhotep III in the Olivier and Grammy Award-winning production of Akhnaten. His theatrical work extends to his starring role as Hades in the West End production of Hadestown at the Lyric Theatre in London, which began in February 2024. James has received several accolades, including being named the Most Innovative Opera Singer of 2019 by The Classical Post and the Breakout Opera Artist of 2019 by Verismo Magazine. He has performed with leading opera companies and orchestras worldwide, such as the English National Opera, LA Opera, Teatro Real, and the New York Philharmonic, among others.
