Yanis Varoufakis: podcast appearances and interviews

Yanis Varoufakis is a Greek economist, academic, author, and politician. He served as Minister of Finance in the government of Alexis Tsipras in 2015 during the Greek government-debt crisis. During his tenure, he gained international recognition for his opposition to EU-imposed austerity measures. Since 2018, he has been the Secretary-General of Democracy in Europe Movement 2025, a left-wing European political party he co-founded in 2016. Varoufakis also founded MeRA25, the Greek wing of DiEM25, and served as a member of the Hellenic Parliament from 2019 to 2023. As an academic, he is a Professor of Economic Theory at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. His academic career also includes positions at King's College London, the University of Cambridge, and the University of Sydney. Varoufakis is known for his criticism of austerity policies, neoliberal economics, and the structure of the Eurozone. Additionally, he is a co-founder of the Progressive International.
