William Bell: podcast appearances and interviews

William Bell, born Yarbrough on July 16, 1939, is an American soul singer and songwriter. He gained recognition for his debut single, You Don't Miss Your Water, released in 1961. Bell is also known for his 1968 top 10 hit in the UK, Private Number, a duet with Judy Clay, and his 1976 single Tryin' to Love Two, which reached the top 40 in the US and climbed to No. 1 on the R&B chart. Following the death of Otis Redding, Bell released a memorial song titled A Tribute to a King. As a songwriter, he co-authored several notable tracks, including Chuck Jackson's hit Any Other Way, Billy Idol's To Be a Lover;which was first recorded by Bell as I Forgot to Be Your Lover;and the blues classic Born Under a Bad Sign, popularized by Albert King and Cream. Bell was a longstanding recording artist for Stax Records but is not related to Al Bell, the label's former president. His work has earned recognition, including a Grammy Award in 2017 for Best Americana Album for his record This Is Where I Live. At the Grammy ceremony, Bell performed Born Under a Bad Sign alongside Gary Clark Jr. and was featured on Rolling Stone's Best of the Grammys list for that year.
