Vincent Neil Wharton, born on February 8, 1961, is an American musician and singer. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Mötley Crüe, which he has fronted since its formation in 1981. Neil's tenure with the band includes periods of departure and reunion; he left in 1992, rejoined in 1996, and remained with the band until their 2015 retirement, subsequently reuniting in 2018. Outside of his work with Mötley Crüe, Neil has released three studio albums as a solo artist. His most recent solo work is the album Tattoos & Tequila, released in 2010. Neil is recognized for his distinctive singing voice and visual aesthetic, both of which have become closely associated with the American glam metal movement of the 1980s.
