Sir George Ivan Morrison, known as Van Morrison, is a Northern Irish musician, singer, and songwriter born on August 31, 1945. His recording career began in the 1960s, and he has achieved notable commercial success in the UK, Ireland, and internationally. More than 40 of his albums have reached the UK Top 40, and he has scored top ten albums in the UK in four consecutive decades, including following the release of Latest Record Project, Volume 1 in 2021. In the United States, eighteen of his albums reached the top 40, with twelve released between 1997 and 2017. Morrison has maintained a prolific output since turning 70 in 2015, averaging more than one album annually. His accolades include two Grammy Awards, the 1994 Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music, and the 2017 Americana Music Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting. Additionally, he has been inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2016, Morrison was knighted for his services to the music industry and to tourism in Northern Ireland. Morrison began performing as a teenager in the late 1950s, playing various instruments for Irish showbands, and gained prominence in the mid-1960s as the lead singer of the Belfast R&B band Them, known for the song
