Urban Frank Meyer III, born on July 10, 1964, in Toledo, Ohio, is a former American football coach and current sportscaster. He grew up in Ashtabula, Ohio, and attended the University of Cincinnati, where he played football as a defensive back. Meyer has served as the head coach for multiple college teams, including the Bowling Green Falcons, Utah Utes, Florida Gators, and Ohio State Buckeyes. During his time at the University of Florida, he led the Gators to two BCS National Championship Game victories in the 2006 and 2008 seasons. His coaching success is reflected in his high winning percentage of .842 through the end of the 2009 season, which was the highest among active coaches with at least five full seasons at an FBS program. Meyer’s achievements include winning a national championship with Ohio State in 2014, marking the program's eighth overall, and securing the Big Ten Conference title. He is one of only four coaches, alongside Pop Warner, Howard Jones, and Nick Saban, to win a major college football national championship at two different universities. After retiring from coaching at the end of the 2018 season, Meyer transitioned into broadcasting and worked as an analyst for Fox Sports. In 2021, he returned to coaching as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL, but was dismissed after 13 games with a record of 2–11 amid controversy. Meyer resumed his broadcasting career with Fox Sports and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2025.
