Tracey Emin: podcast appearances and interviews

Dame Tracey Karima Emin, born on July 3, 1963, is an English artist recognized for her autobiographical and confessional artwork. Her creative practice spans various media including drawing, painting, sculpture, film, photography, neon text, and sewn appliqué. Emin gained prominence in the 1980s as part of the Young British Artists movement and was elected as a Royal Academician in 2016. Her work often explores personal experiences and emotional states, with notable pieces such as Everyone I Have Ever Slept With 1963–1995, a tent appliquéd with the names of her past sexual partners, which was exhibited at the Sensation show at the Royal Academy in London in 1997. That same year, she appeared on a British television programme called The Death of Painting, where she gained media attention through a candid and provocative appearance. Emin's first solo exhibition in the United States titled Every Part of Me's Bleeding took place in 1999 at Lehmann Maupin Gallery. She was also nominated for the Turner Prize and created My Bed, a readymade installation of her unmade and stained bed during a period of personal upheaval. Emin has served as a panelist and lecturer at institutions such as the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Royal Academy of Arts, and Tate Britain, discussing themes like the relationship between autobiography and creativity. In 2011, she was appointed Professor of Drawing at the Royal Academy. She has lived in Spitalfields and Margate and funds the TKE Studios to support upcoming artists.
