Tex Perkins, born Gregory Stephen Perkins on 28 December 1964, is an Australian singer-songwriter known for his work as the frontman of the rock band The Cruel Sea. Throughout his career, Perkins has performed with various bands including the Beasts of Bourbon, Thug, the James Baker Experience, The Butcher Shop, Salamander Jim, and the collaboration Tex, Don and Charlie. In addition to his band performances, he has released numerous solo records, showcasing his versatility as a musician. His contributions to Australian music have been recognized in the arts community, exemplified by a portrait of him by artist Bill Leak that won the Packing Room award at the Archibald Prize in 1997.
