Ted Nugent, born on December 13, 1948, is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter known for his energetic live performances and distinctive bluesy guitar style. He initially gained prominence as the lead guitarist and occasional vocalist for the band the Amboy Dukes, which played psychedelic and hard rock. Following the band's dissolution, Nugent established a successful solo career, releasing several multi-platinum albums such as Ted Nugent, Free-for-All, Cat Scratch Fever, and a live album Double Live Gonzo. His musical talents include prominent use of the Gibson Byrdland guitar, and he is recognized for his frenzied playing and wide-ranging singing voice. Nugent's most notable hit is the 1977 song Cat Scratch Fever, on which he performed the lead vocals. During his early solo years, he collaborated with other lead singers, including Derek St. Holmes, Charlie Huhn, Brian Howe, and Meat Loaf, before taking on full vocal duties himself. In addition to his music career, Nugent was a member of the supergroup Damn Yankees in the late 1980s and early 1990s. His latest album, Detroit Muscle, was released in 2022. He embarked on a farewell tour called the Adios Mofo Tour in 2023 but has continued to perform.
