Ted Lieu: podcast appearances and interviews

Ted Win-Ping Lieu is an American lawyer and politician who has served as a member of the United States House of Representatives since 2015. He initially represented California's 33rd congressional district from 2015 to 2023 and since 2023 has represented the 36th district. His districts encompass areas including South Bay, Westside Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and Beach Cities. Lieu is a member of the Democratic Party and is among the relatively few naturalized U.S. citizens serving in Congress, having emigrated from Taiwan at age three. He studied at Stanford University, earning two degrees, and subsequently obtained his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University. Prior to his congressional service, Lieu was elected to fill the seat of deceased Senator Jenny Oropeza in the California State Senate, representing the 28th district from 2011 to 2014. Before that, he served in the California State Assembly, representing the 53rd district from 2005 to 2010, filling the vacancy created by the death of Assemblyman Mike Gordon. Lieu has a military background, having served on active duty with the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General's Corps from 1995 to 1999, and continued in the Air Force Reserve Command from 2000 to 2021, attaining the rank of colonel in 2015. His leadership roles include appointment as assistant whip of the 115th Congress by House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi and serving as vice chair of the House Democratic Caucus since 2023.
