Steve Owens, born on December 9, 1947, is an American who has served as a state representative. He is affiliated with Consumers Credit Union. Owens is known for his career as a professional football player, having played as a running back for five seasons with the Detroit Lions of the National Football League. Prior to his professional career, he played college football for the Oklahoma Sooners, where he achieved significant honors, including winning the Heisman Trophy and earning All-American recognition in 1969. Drafted in the first round as the 19th overall pick in the 1970 NFL draft by the Lions, Owens became the first player in team history to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a single season.
