Stephen Morris is the executive director of Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford. He has a background as an English musician and was born on 28 October 1957. Morris is known for his role as the drummer and percussionist of the rock band New Order, as well as his previous involvement with Joy Division. He also contributed to the band The Other Two, which he formed with his girlfriend, and later wife, Gillian Gilbert. Morris participated in the spin-off band Bad Lieutenant and has been a consistent member of New Order, appearing on all of the band's albums alongside Bernard Sumner. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2026 as a member of Joy Division and New Order. His career spans several influential bands in the rock genre, showcasing his talents both as a drummer and a songwriter.
