Holly Brooke Hafermann, known professionally as Skylar Grey, is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer born on February 23, 1986. She initially signed with Universal Music Publishing Group in 2004 and secured a recording contract with Linkin Park's Machine Shop Recordings under her real name. Her debut studio album, Like Blood Like Honey, was released in 2006 and was her only project with that label. Grey gained widespread recognition when she co-wrote the hit single Love the Way You Lie for Eminem and Rihanna in 2010, which led to her signing with Alex da Kid's label Kidinakorner, an imprint of Interscope Records. Her subsequent albums include Don't Look Down, released in 2013 and peaking within the top ten of the Billboard 200, and Natural Causes in 2016, which received critical acclaim despite not charting. In 2021, Grey achieved her first Billboard Hot 100 entry as a lead artist with the single Last One Standing, featuring Polo G, Mozzy, and Eminem. Her 2022 self-titled album was independently released and received positive reviews. Grey has also contributed guest vocals on numerous hit singles by artists such as Fort Minor, Diddy, Dr. Dre, Nicki Minaj, Macklemore, and Motionless in White.
