Sheila Crump Johnson, born on January 25, 1949, is an American businesswoman known for her entrepreneurial ventures and leadership roles. She co-founded BET and is the founder and CEO of Salamander Hotels & Resorts. Since establishing Salamander in 2005, she has built a diverse portfolio that includes luxury resorts and golf courses such as the Reunion Resort in Florida, the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club, Hotel Bennett in South Carolina, Half Moon in Jamaica, Aurora Anguilla in the Caribbean, and the Salamander Resort & Spa in Virginia. Johnson is also a vice chairman and partner of Monumental Sports & Entertainment, which manages professional sports teams including the Washington Capitals, Washington Wizards, and Washington Mystics. Notably, she was the first Black female billionaire.
