Shane Lee Simpson is a Canadian politician who served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for Vancouver-Hastings in British Columbia from 2005 to 2020. Throughout his tenure, he was a member of the British Columbia New Democratic Party. Simpson was first elected to the legislative assembly in the 2005 election and held various critic roles during his service. From 2005 to 2009, he was the official opposition critic for the environment. Following this, he served as critic for Housing, ICBC, the BC Lottery Corporation, and the BC Liquor Distribution Branch from 2009 until 2012. In addition to his critic roles, Simpson held the position of NDP Caucus Chair. His lengthy career reflects his active involvement in provincial politics and commitment to various policy areas.
