Shane Dawson: podcast appearances and interviews

Shane Lee Yaw, born on July 19, 1988, is an American internet personality known primarily for his work on YouTube. He began creating videos in 2008 at the age of 19 and quickly gained popularity, accumulating over 500 million views within the first two years. Dawson's early content focused on comedy sketches in which he played original characters, impersonated celebrities, and satirized elements of popular culture. Over time, some of his impressions attracted criticism for their offensive content, including racial stereotypes. He has also released six original songs and numerous parody music videos. In 2013, Dawson launched the podcast Shane and Friends, which ran for 140 episodes over four years. He directed, produced, edited, and starred in the romantic comedy film Not Cool in 2014 and appeared in the horror film Smiley in 2012 and the comedy film Internet Famous in 2016. Dawson expanded his creative pursuits into documentary series, beginning with a 2017 series about reconciling with his absent father and later producing popular series on YouTubers Jeffree Star, Jake Paul, and Tana Mongeau. His work includes two bestselling books, I Hate Myselfie and It Gets Worse, in addition to his YouTube channels, which have collectively garnered over 4.5 billion views. In 2020, YouTube suspended monetization on all his channels following controversy over past comments, leading to a hiatus until his return to the platform in October 2021.
