Sean Duffy: podcast appearances and interviews

Sean Patrick Duffy, born on October 3, 1971, in Hayward, Wisconsin, is an American politician, attorney, and former television personality. He is serving as the 20th United States Secretary of Transportation since January 2025. Prior to this role, Duffy served as the acting administrator of NASA from July to December 2025. A member of the Republican Party, he represented Wisconsin's seventh congressional district as a U.S. representative from 2011 to 2019 and served as the district attorney of Ashland County from 2002 to 2010.

Before entering politics, Duffy was a professional lumberjack and competed in his city's Lumberjack World Championship, winning multiple titles in speed climbing. He appeared on the television show The Real World: Boston in 1997. Duffy graduated from St. Mary's College of Minnesota with a degree in marketing and earned a law degree from the William Mitchell College of Law in 1999. In 2002, he was appointed district attorney of Ashland County by Wisconsin governor Scott McCallum and served in that position until 2010. He challenged Democratic U.S. representative Dave Obey in 2010, winning the election for Wisconsin's seventh congressional district after Obey announced he would not seek re-election. Duffy was subsequently re-elected in 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018.

Following his resignation from Congress in September 2019 due to his daughter's health issues, Duffy worked for the lobbying firm BGR Group and co-hosted Fox Business's The Bottom Line with Dagen McDowell starting in 2023. He was nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as U.S. Secretary of Transportation and was confirmed by the Senate on January 28, 2025. He was sworn in the same day and served briefly as acting administrator of NASA until the Senate confirmed Jared Isaacman in December 2025.
