Sean B. Carroll: podcast appearances and interviews

Sean Brendan Carroll is an American evolutionary developmental biologist, author, educator, and executive producer. He is a distinguished university professor at the University of Maryland and holds the title of professor emeritus of molecular biology and genetics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Carroll's research primarily centers on the evolution of cis-regulatory elements involved in gene expression regulation during biological development, utilizing Drosophila as a model system. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and has been elected to the American Philosophical Society, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. As a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator, Carroll has made significant contributions to his field. His achievements have been recognized through awards such as the Stephen Jay Gould Prize from the Society for the Study of Evolution, the Benjamin Franklin Medal in Life Science, and the Lewis Thomas Prize at Rockefeller University. In addition to his scientific work, Carroll has produced acclaimed films including The Farthest and The Serengeti Rules, which have won Emmy Awards, as well as the Oscar-nominated documentary All That Breathes.
