Scott Andrew Frost, born on January 4, 1975, is an American football coach and former player. He is currently serving as the head football coach at the University of Central Florida, a position he resumed in December 2024 after previously coaching the team from 2016 to 2017. Frost was also the head coach at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln from 2018 to 2022. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, he played college football as a quarterback for the Stanford Cardinal and the Nebraska Cornhuskers, leading the Cornhuskers to a national championship in 1997. His playing career included six seasons as a safety in the National Football League. After retiring, Frost transitioned into coaching, serving as an assistant coach for several college teams, notably as the offensive coordinator at the University of Oregon from 2013 to 2015. During his tenure at Oregon, he contributed to the 2014 team reaching the first college football playoff, where they lost to Ohio State in the national championship game. Frost's head coaching career includes a significant season in 2017 at UCF, where his team achieved a 13–0 record, won the American Athletic Conference championship, and defeated Auburn in the Peach Bowl. The team is recognized by the Colley Matrix as a national champion for that year. His stint at Nebraska was marked by a 16–31 record, with challenges including a 0–14 record against ranked opponents, leading to his dismissal three games into the 2022 season.
