Scott Burnside, born in 1963, is a Canadian sportswriter recognized for his extensive coverage of ice hockey. His career began at the Windsor Star, where he covered notable NHL events such as the Stanley Cup championships involving the Detroit Red Wings in 1997 and 1998. He later served as a sports columnist for the National Post when the publication started in 1998 and contributed to the Ottawa Citizen as a reporter on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Burnside also worked as a special correspondent for USA Today focusing on the Atlanta Thrashers. His long tenure covering the National Hockey League for ESPN spanned 13 years, during which he provided detailed insights and behind-the-scenes perspectives on the sport. Burnside served as president of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association from 2013 to 2017 and has written for The Athletic, Daily Faceoff, and cohosted an ice hockey podcast with Pierre LeBrun.
