Sarah Jeanette Connor is a fictional character and the female protagonist of the Terminator franchise. She has been portrayed by Linda Hamilton in the films The Terminator (1984), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), Terminator Salvation (2009; voice only), and Terminator: Dark Fate (2019), as well as in the theme park attraction T2-3D: Battle Across Time (1996). The character has also been depicted by Emilia Clarke in the film Terminator Genisys (2015) and Lena Headey in the television series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008–09). Over the course of the franchise, Sarah Connor evolves from a timid damsel in distress to a wanted fugitive involved in acts of terrorism. She becomes a hardened warrior and mother who sacrifices everything for her son John Connor's future. Her character is on the verge of losing touch with her own humanity and assumes the role of a mentor, preparing and protecting a protégée for her destiny. In different alternate timelines within the franchise, her background and experiences vary; in Terminator Genisys, she is depicted as being raised by a Terminator in her youth, while in Terminator: Dark Fate, she is engaged in hunting rogue Terminators from various timelines following her son's death.
