Sara Seager: podcast appearances and interviews

Sara Seager is a Canadian-American astronomer and planetary scientist known for her work on extrasolar planets and their atmospheres. She is a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has been recognized for her research by various publications including Popular Science, Discover Magazine, Nature, and TIME Magazine. Seager has authored two textbooks on the topics of exoplanets and their atmospheres, contributing significantly to the field. Her work has focused on detecting chemical signatures on exoplanet atmospheres and developing low-cost space observatories to observe planetary transits. In 2013, she was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship for her theoretical contributions to exoplanet research. She is also noted for her efforts to push the boundaries of collaboration within the scientific community. Starting September 1, 2026, she is scheduled to return to her alma mater, the University of Toronto, to join the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics as North Star Distinguished Professor.
