Sam McAlister: podcast appearances and interviews

Sam McAlister is an English television producer, former Newsnight producer, criminal barrister, and author. She is best known for securing an interview with Prince Andrew, Duke of York, for BBC Newsnight's programme Prince Andrew & the Epstein Scandal in 2019. The interview received worldwide attention and elicited widespread criticism of Prince Andrew, ultimately leading to his resignation from all public roles. McAlister's work in this context and the circumstances surrounding the interview have been subject to scrutiny; some sources, including author Andrew Lownie, have challenged the work done in preparation, suggesting that journalist Laura Burns, working for Panorama, provided research that was used but not credited. In 2021, McAlister published a memoir titled Scoops, in which she recounts her experiences related to the Prince Andrew interview. Her story was later adapted into a feature film titled Scoop, released in 2024, in which she was portrayed by actress Billie Piper.
