Salma Valgarma Hayek Pinault is a Mexican and American actress and film producer born on September 2, 1966. She began her career in Mexico with leading roles in the telenovela Teresa and the romantic drama Midaq Alley. She quickly established herself in Hollywood with appearances in films such as Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn, Wild Wild West, and Dogma. Her portrayal of painter Frida Kahlo in the biopic Frida, which she also produced, earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, making her the first Mexican actress to receive this honor. Following this, she focused more on producing, while continuing to star in various projects including action films like Once Upon a Time in Mexico, After the Sunset, and Bandidas, as well as comedies like Grown Ups, Grown Ups 2, and The Hitman's Bodyguard.
