Ruha Benjamin, born in 1978, is a sociologist and professor in the Department of African American Studies at Princeton University. She specializes in examining the relationship between innovation and equity, focusing on the intersections of race, justice, and technology. Benjamin is the founding director of the Just Data Lab at Princeton University. Her work explores how technological advancements impact social justice issues, and she has authored several influential books, including People’s Science: Bodies and Rights on the Stem Cell Frontier, Race After Technology: Abolitionist Tools for the New Jim Code, Viral Justice: How We Grow the World We Want, and Imagination: A Manifesto.
