Ruben Martinez: podcast appearances and interviews

Rubén Martínez, born in 1962 in Los Angeles, is a journalist, author, and musician. He is the son of Rubén Martínez, a Mexican American lithographer, and Vilma Angulo, a Salvadoran psychologist. His works often explore themes related to immigrant life and globalization, as well as the cultural and political history of Los Angeles, his hometown. Martínez has also written about the civil wars of the 1980s in Central America, drawing from his mother's Salvadoran heritage, and Mexican politics and culture, reflecting his second-generation Mexican-American background. In August 2012, he published the book Desert America: Boom and Bust in the New Old West through Metropolitan Books. Throughout his career, Martínez has engaged with issues pertinent to both his personal history and broader social and political contexts, contributing to discussions on immigration, cultural identity, and regional history.
