Sir Roger George Moore was an English actor widely recognized for his portrayal of James Bond in the Eon Productions/MGM Studios film series. He played the iconic secret agent in seven films, including Live and Let Die, The Man with the Golden Gun, The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, and A View to a Kill. This series featured the most appearances by any actor in the franchise. On television, Moore starred as Simon Templar in the British mystery thriller series The Saint from 1962 to 1969. He also played Beau Maverick in the American Western series Maverick, replacing James Garner, and co-starred with Tony Curtis in the action-comedy The Persuaders! from 1971 to 1972. Beyond his acting career, Moore was active in charitable work and was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 1991. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2003 for his services to charity. Moore received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007 for his contributions to the film industry and was made a Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government in 2008.
